La Pietra Chardonnay 2019
La Pietra white wine was innovative when it was first created in 1983; today it is a classic. It is a pure Chardonnay skilfully aged in French oak barrels. The grapes come from a hilly vineyard over 400 meters above sea level in Panzano in Chianti. Chardonnay is the best known white grape in the world, coming from Burgundy but now widespread everywhere at any latitude, thanks to its remarkable ability to adapt. In Tuscany and particularly in the Chianti area, it gives wines that are rich in structure but not lacking in elegance, just like in this case. Chardonnay La Pietra is a sumptuous white, sustained on the palate, but crossed by a saline vein that makes it balanced and harmonious.
The grapes are gently pressed and the must is cold decanted for 24 hours. Once clear, the alcoholic fermentation begins, which takes place partially in barrique. The wine ages for one year in French oak barrels (50% new) with periodic bâtonnage. Finally it rests at least 6 months in the bottle.
