Carignano del Sulcis Is Solinas Riserva 2019
Is Solinas red wine expresses the most authentic character of the territory of origin: Sulcis, or the south-western extremity of Sardinia, where the climate is strongly influenced by the proximity of the sea. The winds sweep away the humidity and mitigate the climate of the vineyards which enjoy great sunshine. The Carignano del Sulcis DOC Is Solinas is produced with 100% Carignano grape variety, the vines are bush-trained on a predominantly sandy soil and turn into a rigorous wine, endowed with great finesse. Carignano grapes are rich in phenols and give full-bodied, long lived wines. Oak-aging makes the wine round and alluring already in its youth but it can still age further anyway.
The grapes are harvested by hand. Upon arrival in the cellar, they are de-stemmed and crushed and fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. After racking, the wine is decanted into concrete tanks where the malolactic fermentation takes place. Finally, the wine ages for one year in French oak barriques.
