Bolgheri Superiore Millepassi 2019
Donna Olimpia's Bolgheri Superiore Millepassi comes from vineyards not far from the coast, in the locality of Migliarini where the soil is mainly sandy and loamy. Since Migliarini derives from the ancient Roman unit of measurement "milium" which corresponds to a thousand steps, it was decided to give the wine this name (“millepassi” means 1000 steps). Cabernet sauvignon prevails in the blend, reflecting the most consolidated model of Bolgheri reds. Merlot and Petit verdot give complexity and breadth to the taste of the wine.
The harvest takes place separately by variety in the months of September and October. The grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats with prolonged maceration. After racking, the wine also carries out malolactic fermentation; subsequently it ages for two years in French oak barriques, half new.
