Bolgheri Superiore Baia al Vento 2019
Campo al Mare’s Bolgheri Superiore Baia al Vento was produced for the first time in 2007 from a parcel of Merlot on a soil of light clay which has proved particularly suitable since the beginning of Folonari's experience in Bolgheri. For this reason, Merlot has been from the very beginning the main grape variety with which to make Baia al Vento, the main wine of the estate. Cabernet franc does not dominate the great depth of Merlot, but rather makes the sip vibrant and graceful with its balsamic notes and refined tannins.
Fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature with maceration for 30 days. The wine ages for about 18 months in 500 l French oak tonneau, half new and half of second passage. It ages one more year in the bottle.
