Bolgheri Rosso Cont’Ugo 2020
For lovers of Merlot, Cont'Ugo is a must, for everyone else it is a chance to change their minds. It is deep, fascinating and rich in nuances: a great Bolgheri wine.
Clay is the most suitable type of soil for Merlot. The grapes for Cont'Ugo are grown on the lowest and clayey vineyards of the Guado al Tasso estate; they are also affected by the sun and the thermal excursions typical of Bolgheri.
The grapes ferment in steel vat with 20 days of skin contact and a careful temperature management to grant both phenolic extraction and fragrant flavors. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrique. Only the best wine from the various barriques are selected to make the final blend. The wine ages for 12 months in barriques, a third of which are new.
