Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018
It is a powerful and complex wine, suitable for important meals. It is produced with grapes that have been dried for a long time and then vinified; this leads to a concentration of grape substances and fragrances. Amarone is a wine that excites from the first approach and has a great seductive power. Tommasi's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is produced from vineyards located in various villaves of the Valpolicella Classica, in particular from the La Groletta and Conca d'Oro crus. They are vineyards in the hills with a prevalent exposure to the south and south-west and an important presence of limestone in the soil. The proximity of Lake Garda grands constant ventilation and diurnal range during summer days.
The harvest is manual and the healthiest and most sparse bunches are selected and subjected to a slow drying in a well-ventilated loft for 3 months. Fermentation follows with maceration in steel vats at a controlled temperature for 25 days. Finally the wine ages for 3 years in 35 hl Slavonian oak barrels.
