Aglianico del Vulture Synthesi 2019
The name of the wine is a declaration of its vocation. It is produced from a selection of grapes from the different vineyards of the Paternoster estate in the Barile area on the Vulture hill at altitudes ranging between 450 and 600 meters above sea level. This gives the wine a balanced and complex taste and above all represents the complexity of the Vulture wines produced with Aglianico grapes and aged in wooden barrels. Aglianico del Vulture Synthesi is a traditional, powerful and long-lived wine; it expresses the elegance of a volcanic territory such as that of the Vulture and the power of a vine variety such as Aglianico, endowed with high levels of acidity and tannins. But above all it is the wine of a historic winery, one of the most important and rooted in the Vulture area, in particular in the Contrada Barile, with its suitable vineyards. Paternoster has almost a century of experience and is a point of reference for all the oenology of Basilicata.
The grapes are harvested by hand. They are de-stemmed and fermented in steel vats at a controlled temperature. Punching down and pumping over are carried out for a total of 12-15 days. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and most of it ages for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. Only 20% of the wine ages in used barriques.
