Alto Adige Sauvignon Sanct Valentin 2022
Sanct Valentin Sauvignon is one of the most important whites of the San Michele Appiano winery. It has body and length, richness of aromas and intensity of taste; it is also suited for a long evolution in the bottle. It is a wine of great charm that cannot leave you indifferent. To do this, the best grapes are selected, with very low yields, grown on the slopes of the Mendola mountain between 450 and 600 meters above sea level. The vineyards face south and south-east, have soil of morainic origin, gravelly with limestone and enjoy many hours of sun and fresh air at night which determines significant temperature variations. Sauvignon Sanct Valentin has been produced since 1989 and has received numerous awards and accolades since then. Sauvignon blanc is a French grape variety, grown all over the world with different results, as depending on the climate and the soil it can give variable wine styles. In South Tyrol it maintains its proverbial freshness on the palate and is also enriched with minerality and ripe fruity flavors.
The harvest is manual in September. Only the best grapes are selected. For the most part they ferment in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature and age in contact with the lees for about 6 months. A small part, on the other hand, ferments and ages in barrels of various sizes and is then blended with the wine produced in steel.
