Alto Adige Pinot Nero Saltner Riserva 2020
Saltner is a typical South Tyrolean Pinot Noir, with a fruity and delicate taste for those looking for elegance rather than power in wine. Pinot Noir is one of the noblest black grape varieties, it comes from Burgundy, in northern France and is very demanding in terms of soil and climate. The soil rich in limestone and the cool climate of certain vineyards in South Tyrol are congenial to him. The Pinot noir grapes of Cantina Kaltner's Saltner wine come from the surroundings of Lake Caldaro, the vineyards are located between 400 and 550 meters above sea level and face south-east and south-west, are in a ventilated position and are affected above all by refreshing breezes that come down from the mountains in the evening and at night; the soil is of medium texture, calcareous with the presence of minerals.
The grapes are harvested by hand and ferment in wooden vats with two weeks of maceration with the skins. The wine also carries out malolactic fermentation and ages in oak barrels and tonneau for one year. A light filtration precedes bottling.
