Alto Adige Chardonnay 2023
Chardonnay grapes are grown all over the world and Chardonnay white wines are among the most popular in the world, thanks to their intense, round and sensual taste. Chardonnay originates from the north of France, where the climate is cool, but adapts to any environment, giving wines with a different taste profile. Chardonnay has been present in South Tyrol for over a century and has also been cultivated in the Terlano area for a long time. One of the characteristics of Terlano's Chardonnay is that it develops fruity aromas typical of the warmer areas, but maintains an interesting freshness on the palate. In fact, the environment of Terlano is unique: it has soils of volcanic origin, made up of porphyry and quartz, free of limestone. In addition, the climate enjoys many hours of sunlight, high maximum temperatures in summer but with an accentuated temperature range between night and day due to the winds that descend from the mountains. This develops aromas and retains acidity in the grapes.
The harvest of the Chardonnay is manual. The grapes are gently pressed and the flower must ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine matures in steel on its own lees for about 7 months.
