Roberto Bianchi's father was from Milan, but in the 1970s he moved to Chianti to devote himself to country life and agriculture. This is how Val delle Corti originated: a boutique winery, small in size but great in quality, managed on a family level.
Val delle Corti is located in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, distinguished by the altitude of the vineyards, the rocky component of the soil and the cool weather conditions. These factors determine Radda wine’s profile, that can be hard and angular in the early years and especially if they are not loved. Roberto Bianchi instead loves this land and passes this passion on in the wines.
The winery has organic certification and Roberto manages the vineyard with biodynamic practices. Roberto likes to say that the genius loci of Val delle Corti is Sangiovese; he knows how to interpret Sangiovese with respect and turn it in refined and elegant wines.
The soils of Val delle Corti are poor and rich in galestro (friable stone) and alberese (limestone) and the vineyards are exposed to the east, thus taking in the morning sun, the coolest one.
Val delle Corti produces 40,000 bottles a year from about 8 hectares of vineyards, 5 of which are owned and the rest is rented.
