Capannelle is a niche winery and wine resort in the beautiful hills of Gaiole in Chianti. It originated from the renovation of an old farmhouse on the hills behind the town of Gaiole in Chianti (SI). Soon a small vineyard was created and cultivated with native varieties. The idea was to make high-profile wines, that were created out of the classic appellations, with a modern and extraordinary goal for the time.
The ownership changed with the acquisition by the American entrepreneur James B. Sherwood, but the spirit of excellence remained unchanged.
Today Capannelle owns 16 hectares of vineyards in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, mainly cultivated with native black grape varieties; they only introduced Chardonnay as a white grape variety, from which they made a very successful wine.
The whole range of Capannelle, from Chianti Classico to the Supertuscan wines 50%50 and Solare, is placed on very high quality levels.
The winery also includes a restaurant and a wine resort with a few rooms for exclusive clients.
