Rosso di Montalcino Rossofonte 2022
Rossofonte is a Rosso di Montalcino produced with a selection of Sangiovese grosso grapes grown on the south-east side of Montalcino between 240 and 360 meters above sea level. The ancient soils rich in marl give structure to the wine and the dry and mild climate of this side of the hill contributes to the expressiveness of the wine, which can already be enjoyed in youth. It has evolved characteristics that make it resemble a Brunello di Montalcino, without however having the austerity of the latter. Therefore it is a tasty and round wine that can also be easily paired with daily food.
After the harvest, the de-stemmed grapes are fermented with the skins in steel vats and in concrete tanks. After racking, the wine also carries out malolactic fermentation. Finally, it ages for about a year in large Slavonian oak barrels of 7.5 and 20 hectoliters.
