Montefalco Rosso 2018
Montefalco Rosso by Fattoria Colsanto is an evolved Sangiovese-based wine. Sangiovese can give great results outside Tuscany too and with the integration of a part of Sagrantino, a really tannic grape, it acquires a fuller body, although with the aging in wood it turns into a smooth and round wine.
The harvest is manual at the beginning of October. The de-stemmed grapes ferment in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a total maceration of 15 days. The malolactic fermentation is carried out for most of the wine in wooden barrels and for a part in steel. Finally, 70% of the wine ages in wooden barrels and 30% in steel vats.
