Guidalberto 2021

Guidalberto is the second wine of the Estate, made by Niccolò Incisa della Rocchetta, son of Mario, the creator of Sassicaia. It differs from the top wine, as it includes a part of Merlot in the blend that makes it round and enveloping. We could define it as the female face of Tenuta San Guido. Compared to its older brother, Sassicaia, it is also a more immediate wine to be appreciated in youth, for its softness and fruity intensity, despite having the same class and the same very high quality.

Cabernet sauvignon and Merlot grapes from the Bolgheri vineyards are vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a total maceration of about 2 weeks (a few days less for Merlot). Malolactic fermentation is also carried out in steel, after which the wines are aged in French and partly American oak barrels for a total period of 15 months.
