Franciacorta Brut Teatro alla Scala 2018 con astuccio
The name of this vintage Franciacorta is a tribute to the famous opera house in Milan, a symbol of culture, but also of social and worldly life. With this comparison, Franciacorta Millesimato La Scala is positioned as a label for important occasions. It has a sustained and refined taste in line with the Bellavista style; it can be enjoyed in its youth but also has the potential to further age in the bottle. Being a vintage it expresses the character of the vintage itself and the 2016 vintage was a year with a mild and balanced summer that allowed slow ripening of the grapes and a slightly delayed harvest compared to the average. This favored the perfect ripening of both aromas and sugars, resulting in very balanced and harmonious wines. Based on Chardonnay, as is appropriate for any classic Franciacorta, it is produced with a partial aging of the base wines in wood, which gives a sensation of fullness and roundness to the sip as well as the more evolved aromas in the bouquet.
The grapes are harvested by hand between 2nd and 18th September from vines with an average age of 25 years. They are gently pressed to extract only the purest juice. This ferments and ages for at least 6 months partly in stainless steel vats and partly in oak barrels. The cuvée is then created by blending the base wines with the addition of yeasts and sugars and the second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the traditional method. Finally, it ages for 4 years on the lees in the bottle and is dosed with 4.5 g / l of sugar.
