Etna Rosso Contrada Marchesa 2019
The Etna Rosso Contrada Marchesa 2019 doc Donnafugata is produced in Sicily, more precisely in contrada Marchesa in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia at an altitude of 750 m above sea level, this area has an excellent temperature range between day and night. The soil is lava with a sandy texture and rich in minerals. The only grape variety is Nerello Mascalese, which is grown with both the Etnean sapling and the spurred cordon espalier.
Harvesting is carried out by hand. Vinification takes place in steel for 10/12 days, ageing instead in French oak for 14 months and then in the bottle for 22 months.
The end result is a red wine of clear longevity, elegant both on the nose and palate and with a good structure, fresh and with perfectly integrated tannins.
Note, as always, Donnafugata's beautiful labels that capture the eye before the palate.
