Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Rialzi Tenuta Perano 2019 Frescobaldi
Rialzi is the name of a vineyard consisting of three natural steps at 500 meters above sea level in the township of Gaiole in Chianti. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Rialzi produced by Frescobaldi’s Perano Estate is made with Sangiovese grapes only and is aged in barrique. It represents the maximum expression of the estate and is designed for a long bottle-aging. The altitude, the conformation of the vineyard and the microclimate determine an optimal ripeness for the Sangiovese grapes, which accumulate tannins, sugars and retain their precious acidity; furthermore, the accentuated diurnal range in the weeks preceding the harvest favors the remarkable aromatic definition.
The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected. In the cellar a second selection of the best grapes is done. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins and delicate pumping over. The wine also carries out malolactic fermentation and ages for 24 months in new French oak barriques. It ages one more year in bottle before leaving the cellar.
