La Grande Dame is the cuvée prestige of the maison Veuve Clicquot, it is dedicated to Madame Clicquot, a visionary entrepreneur who made her house a true icon of Champagne. It is produced with a majority of Pinot Noir, Madame's favorite grape, and a small balance of Chardonnay; all grapes come from some of the best vineyards in the region. In fact, the Veuve Clicquot maison boasts a heritage of 390 hectares of which 12 Grand Cru vineyards and 20 Premier Cru, which represent 95% of their properties. The most historic vineyards were purchased by Madame Clicquot as early as the 19th century and are still some of the most extraordinary in all of Champagne region. La Grande Dame comes from the selection of the best grapes from fantastic vineyards in the villages of Le-Mesnil, Avize, Verzy, Verzenay, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Aÿ.

This boxed edition bears the signature of Yayoi Kusama, a sought-after Japanese artist, who adorned the label and case with his iconic multicolored polka dots. A 150-year-old connection between the two ladies, who come together under the creed of uniqueness and timeless genius, like the fascinating and very long-lived taste of the Grande Dame 2012. Of the 2012 vintage it only needs to be said that, despite yielded below average from a quantitative point of view, the results are great and memorable. A vintage that will remain in the annals of the appellation.

The base wines ferment in steel, undergo malolactic fermentation too; the aging on the lees lasts 6 years. At disgorgement, the dosage of La Grande Dame 2012 is 6 g / l of sugars.
