Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo 2018
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo comes from a lucky season, a vintage classified with five stars (on a scale of 1 to 5): it has an elegant, attractive, balanced character. It is rich and deep like the best Brunello di Montalcino, but at the same time it is immediately enjoyable even in youth. The historic Castelgiocondo estate in Montalcino has belonged to the Frescobaldi family for over 30 years. It is located on the western side of the Montalcino hill and is one of the largest wine estates. It can therefore benefit from vineyards at different altitudes and different exposures, which allow to produce balanced wines with a certain consistency, beyond seasonal variations.
The harvest is manual and selective, only the healthy and ripe grapes become Brunello di Montalcino. Fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine then matures in oak barrels of different sizes for two years and ages in the bottle until January of the fifth year following the harvest, as required by the DOCG specifications.
