Trentodoc Extra Brut Rosé Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore 2009 (astuccio)
Giulio Ferrari Rosé represents the synthesis of over a century of experience of the Trentino sparkling wine house and embodies the quintessence of the mountain Pinot Noir, the predominant grape variety in this cuvée. It was produced for the first time in 2006. The selection of the best grapes and a maturation on the lees of over 10 years are the basis of this sparkling wine with great personality, immediately appreciated by professionals and enthusiasts. It has the finesse of a great sparkling wine but also the structure of a red wine, almost reminiscent of a great Burgundy Pinot Noir.
The 2008 vintage was cool especially in spring and early summer with abundant rainfall. The August sun allowed the grapes to reach maturity in perfect conditions, giving very fragrant grapes.
The grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards owned by Ferrari, located high in the hills around the city of Trento. Pinot noir is the prevalent variety, the share of Chardonnay varies according to the vintage. After the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel of the base wines, the second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to traditional method. The sparkling wine ages on the lees for over 10 years.
