Rocca di Frassinello is a modern Maremma winery and is part of the Domini di Castellare di Castellina group owned by the entrepreneur Paolo Panerai.
It was born as an Italian-French joint venture (between Castellare and Rothschild Lafite) with the idea of focusing on the Mediterranean climate of the Tuscan Maremma to make wines with a contemporary and internationally appreciated style. The goal is to create high-profile wines, therefore with substantial investments.
The cellar is built on an architectural project by Renzo Piano. Both local and French varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon and Syrah are grown in the vineyard. The winery is located in Giuncarico Scalo, in the municipality of Gavorrano, where the soils are clayey and rich in skeleton.
The 80 hectares of vineyards revolve around the cellar and are protected behind by higher hills, while casting their gaze towards the Tyrrhenian coast.
