Cantine PaoloLeo have been producing wine in Salento for over a century. Paolo Leo was the founder of the modern wine business, run by the Leo family. Today PaoloLeo has 50 hectares of owned vineyards and two wineries: one in San Donaci, the Salice Salentino DOC production area and one in Monteparano, the Primitivo di Manduria DOC production area.
Salento is a rather flat area in southern Puglia with pale colored calcareous soil mixed with sand and clay. The advantage of the Salento territory is that it is surrounded by the sea, or rather by two seas: the Ionian to the west and the Adriatic to the east, which refresh the climate with their breezes.
The company works mainly with native Apulian grapes; leads the vineyards with organic farming and is respectful of environmental sustainability in all stages of production up to packaging. In fact, they chose recycled paper for the labels, metal instead of plastic for the capsules and natural cork.
