Frecciarossa

The Frecciarossa agricultural estate has been rooted for a century in the hills of Casteggio in Oltrepò Pavese, since the Genoese Mario Odero bought it as a country residence. It was 1919. Thus began the adventure of the Radici Odero family which today enjoys an excellent reputation as a private winery in the province of Pavia with a diverse range of wines. The name Frecciarossa was actually a transcription error: the toponym of the place where the estate extends is "Fraccia Rossa", which indicates the color of the clay rich in iron oxide.
Giorgio Odero was the one who gave the greatest impression to the production and he did it after having been to study in France, especially in Burgundy and Champagne.
The Frecciarossa winery today works in compliance with environmental sustainability, treats the earth as an organism, has adopted an organic approach and artisanal practices aiming for the highest quality. In the vineyard only traditional grapes are grown such as Croatina, Barbera and Uva Rara and those that are now at home in Oltrepò Pavese such as Pinot Noir and Riesling. But Pinot Noir is the most important variety for Frecciarossa, that grape variety that Giorgio Odero had come to know better precisely in its regions of origin: Champagne and Burgundy.
The style of Frecciarossa wines is very precise and aims to enhance the local tradition. In all, it has 21 hectares of vineyards from which it produces an average of 100,000 bottles a year.
