Carmelo Nicosia's family comes from the town of Trecastagni, on the slopes of Mount Etna, where the winery is based. It is the result of the commitment and experience of 5 generations of wine producers. Cantine Nicosia has been a leading player in the success of Sicilian wines around the world since the 1980s.
The winery was expanded with a modern project and cutting-edge spaces, in addition the property was expanded with a second estate in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria area and vineyards in other suitable areas of Sicily. Overall, Cantine Nicosia produces about 2 million bottles a year, but Etna is the beating heart of its activities. Most of the vineyards are located around the winery on the south-eastern side at 700 meters above sea level, from which different labels come, each linked to the specific vineyard of origin.
The Nicosia at the helm of the winery, father and children, have embraced the cause of environmental sustainability and are very attentive to the issue of health. They have converted their vineyards to organic farming; their labels are certified organic and they have also started a line of vegan wines.
