Bolgheri Superiore DOC Bolgherese 2021

Tenuta di Vaira ‘ Bolgheri Superiore Bolgherese comes from vineyards located east of via Bolgherese, the road that runs parallel to the coast and divides the vineyards of the appellation into two parts. To the east of via Bolgherse there are deeper and more compact soils, of an alluvial nature, rich in stones, sands and mineral elements. This favors the cultivation of red berried grapes such as Cabernet sauvignon and Merlot. The blend is based on Cabernet Sauvignon, the most cultivated grape in Bolgheri, but it has a significant contribution of Merlot, which gives roundness, fullness and complexity to the wine. The grapes are harvested by hand, ferment in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a long maceration with the skins. The wine ages for 16 months in French oak barrels, half of which are new, and then ages for 12 more months in the bottle.
