A wine full of energy like the lava coming out of the Volcano, but easy to drink.
Le Sabbie dell’Etna wine is a typical traditional Etna Rosso, to be drunk in youth, to appreciate the liveliness and energy that the volcanic territory transmits to the wine. The Firriato vineyards are located on the northern slope of the volcano cone in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia between 650 and 900 m above sea level. In particular, the vineyards of Le Sabbie dell’Etna wine are located at 700 m. At this altitude the climatic conditions are mountainous even though we are in Sicily and the grapes ripen slowly while maintaining high levels of acidity. The soil of the vineyards is sandy of volcanic origin and is rich in mineral substances such as phosphorus, manganese and iron.
The grapes are harvested by hand in the second half of October. Fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature with 14 days of maceration. The wine ages 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
