The Zenato family has been producing wine for over 60 years from two estates in the province of Verona: one on the shores of Lake Garda and one in the Valpolicella Classica. The origin and headquarters of Zenato are located in the Lugana area, between Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda. Here Sergio Zenato started his business in 1960; then he also acquired an estate in the Valpolicella Classica, in the municipality of Sant’Ambrogio. His son Alberto and his daughter Nadia operate today with the same philosophy of their father: enhancing the native grape varieties and the typicality.
The morainic activity of the glaciers at the origin of Lake Garda has left a very compact clay in the Lugana area, that gives depth and flavour to wines made with Turbiana grape (also called Trebbiano di Lugana). In the small valleys in the municipality of Sant’Ambrogio in Valpolicella, the vineyard’s soil is on the contrary calcareous; it contributes to producing red wines with low acidity, excellent structure and longevity.
