With the name Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, Ivano Tombolino manages an absolutely artisanal liqueur factory in Calabria, or rather a Rural Agricultural Company, which cultivates the raw materials necessary for the preparation of liqueurs. The headquarters are located in the province of Cosenza and all the botanicals used, even those purchased from third parties, come from Calabria. The history of the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale is linked to an anecdote: it was in the warehouse that 3 survivors of the shipwreck of a sailing ship near the Calabrian coast in 1871 found hospitality. The name of these 3 Americans today is the name of some of the most popular liqueurs in the world. Jefferson, the herbal amaro, won the highest recognition at the "world liqueur award" in London. The success has been such that production is not sufficient to meet the demand. Production is deliberately kept on a small scale, the liqueurs of the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale are niche products.
