Travaglini

The Travaglini family owns the largest vineyard extension under the Gattinara appellation and made an effort to make Gattinara wine known throughout the world. They invented an original bottle, which thanks to its crooked shape, has been able to attract the attention of consumers.
The business started in the 1920s has continued to grow generation after generation, transforming the original activity into a modern winery that is intimately linked to its territory.
The town of Gattinara is located in the upper Val di Sesia in the so-called Alto Piemonte (Northern Piedmont). It is believed that Nebbiolo was cultivated here even before it was in the Langhe and the wines of Gattinara had an excellent reputation when Barolo did not even exist yet. The strength of this territory is due to the soil of volcanic origin, in fact the Val di Sesia was formed in prehistoric times following the collapse of a large volcano and what was the heart of the volcano emerged on the surface. The porphyry and granite in the soil of the Gattinara vineyards give the Nebbiolo finesse and elegance. The climate is influenced by the proximity of the Alps, in fact the vineyards extend on the slopes of the Monte Rosa massif.
Today Travaglini produces 250,000 bottles annually from 55 hectares of owned vineyards.
