The Salamens maison has been active in Gascony since 1982 and produces Armagnac with a racy and rounded character. Gascony is the region south of Bordeaux that extends to the Pyrenees. The distillery works with two types of stills: the traditional column stills that are very old and others of the discontinuous type introduced in the 1970s.
Therefore it is able to operate both with continuous and discontinuous distillation, according to the type of product to be made.
The wines that are distilled comes all from the Bas Armagnac region where the soils have an important silica component, which gives personality to the wines and the spirit. The starting grapes are Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Baco and Colombard varieties. Even wood aging is carried out in compliance with a traditional taste, using 400-liter barrels of Gascogne oak.
