Quartomoro di Sardegna is an original project started by Piero Cella with his wife Luciana Baso in 2009. Piero Cella is a Sardinian oenologist and consultant for numerous wine makers; at one point he wanted to create his own laboratory, to experiment and make his personal wines, convinced that Sardinia has an unparalleled vocation for viticulture. He started by buying grapes, then he bought vineyards in various areas of Sardinia for a total of 7.5 hectares.
Despite the small size he has developed a wide range of labels including various types of wine and various production philosophies. There are 20 labels produced, often the result of micro-vinifications; the approach demonstrates the will to enhance the differences instead of canceling them and highliting all small peculiarities of the Sardinian territory.
He wanted to recover unusual old indigenous grape varieties and old vineyards. He set himself the goal of producing traditional wines with a minimalist, non-interventionist style, but he also wanted to try new and original things. In the space of a few years he has been noticed and has received important appreciation.
The winery is located in Arborea in the province of Oristano and produces about 50,000 bottles every year.
