Oddero

Oddero is a historical name of Barolo, it is the name of a family rooted for over two centuries in the Langhe area, precisely in Santa Maria di La Morra. Lorenzo and Luigi Oddero started producing wine from their own grapes between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. At the end of the 19th century they were already exporting their wines outside of Italy and even to America. A common goal of all Odderos is the pursuit of quality, without compromise. So, Giacomo Oddero in the 1950s completely renews the cellar and was committed to the enhancement not only of his wine but of Piedontese wine in general. Giacomo Oddero was councilor for agriculture in the province of Cuneo and contributed to the drafting of the production regulations for Barolo and Barbaresco, now both DOCG.

Several generations have succeeded at the helm of the winery, still in the hands of the family. Today it is Giacomo's daughter, Mariacristina, who runs the business. They have acquired in-depth expertise over time, without ever abandoning the traditional style based on the aging of Nebbiolo in large barrels. Today they own 35 hectares of vineyards, among which there are some of the most prestigious vineyards of the Langhe.
They produce Barolo, Barbaresco and the fine wines typical of the area. Since 2008 Oddero has converted to organic farming and almost all the wines are certified organic. The annual production is 150,000 bottles.
