Monteverro winery followed the success of the wines from the Coast of Tuscany in the early 2000s; it was founded with the investment of the German Georg Weber to start a project of outstanding wine production in Capalbio, a village in southern Tuscany. Proximity to the sea determines mild and dry weather conditions; the vineyards, surrounded by olive grooves and Mediterranean scrub, are located on leaning slopes characterized by the presence of stones and red clay in the soil.
The inspiration is international, and world-famous grape varieties were chosen such as those of Bordeaux - Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet franc and Merlot - of Burgundy - Chardonnay - and of southern Rhone (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre). A link with the territory is maintained by the presence of the local varieties Sangiovese and Vermentino. One of the most famous wine making consultants in the world was hired to make wine: Michel Rolland, who leads an international team. The vineyards are managed organically and the surrounding environment favors biodiversity.
The wines are certified organic. The brand new cellar is at the forefront from a technological point of view, but aimed at working the grapes in the most natural way, for example by exploiting the force of gravity instead of pumps for moving grapes and wines in the various production steps. The objective that determines every operation is only one: absolute quality.
