The Millonario distillery was born in 1950 in Peru, transforming the former sugar refinery in the city of Chiclayo, in the north of the country.
The Piera de Castillo family began distillation after importing a column still made in Scotland. The rum produced was intended for the richest and was renamed liqueur for millionaires, hence its name Millonario. It was destined for the domestic market until 2005 when the Italian bottler Fabio Rossi discovers it and takes over its ownership.
Today the range of Rums produced by the Millonario distillery includes various labels characterized by aging with the solera system.
