Lornano extends between Castellina in Chianti and Monteriggioni. It is a typical Chianti farmhouse that has been producing wine for over a century. It owns 40 hectares of vineyards out of 180 total properties and mainly produces Chianti Classico in all 3 types provided for by the specifications. It is located in a very sunny position open to the south-west with partly clayey and partly sandy soils. In these conditions Sangiovese assumes a mainly fruity character and the wines are well structured and balanced.
The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation of the wines take place in steel vats at a controlled temperature, while barrels of various sizes are used for aging.
Lornano also produces an excellent Vin Santo, the traditional sweet wine of Tuscany, with grapes that are left to dry in a special room.
