List of products by brand La Staffa
La Staffa
Riccardo Baldi in 2009, very young, took over his father's 2-hectare vineyard and within a few years he established himself as one of the main exponents of modern Verdicchio. His approach is based on natural fermentations and long aging in concrete. Riccardo took his first steps by listening to the advice of historic producers in the area, he gradually increased its vineyards, he opted for organic farming and also adopted biodynamic practices.
La Staffa is an artisanal and organic company that aims to produce wines with a strong territorial identity. It is located in a privileged area within the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi appellation: the oldest hills with the steepest slopes, to the right of the Esino river. In particular, the winery is located in Staffolo and the vineyards extend in Contrada Castellaretta between 400 and 500 meters above sea level.
The soils are hard and very calcareous. Despite being far from the sea, the vineyards enjoy excellent sunshine and at the same time are subject to strong temperature variations between night and day due to altitude. The Staffa grows only native grapes in its 12 hectares of vineyards: Verdicchio and Montepulciano; Verdicchio is its most important wine, especially in the Riserva version. It produces about 50,000 bottles annually.
