La Sibilla
Founded in 1997 by Vincenzo Di Meo in the Campi Flegrei area in the province of Naples, La Sibilla winery has drawn attention of consumers and experts for its wines from native grape varieties made with in an essential, minimalist style.
The territory of the Campi Flegrei is impressive: volcanic soils overlooking the sea. On the soil made up of ash and lapilli the vines are still cultivated ungrafted, because the phylloxera cannot survive here.
The territory is not easy to work even for men, forced to terracing and manual operations. The vineyards are mainly cultivated with Falanghina and Piedirosso with which they have been making wines for generations, but with Vincenzo, strong in his oenology studies, a new adventure begins: the rustic and simple wines of the past are just a memory.
Vincenzo works together with brothers Mattia and Salvatore and other family members are involved in the activities. The company owns 7.5 hectares of vineyards in two separate plots and produces 70,000 bottles annually.
