Jim Beam is the absolute leading Bourbon brand with over 60 million liters sold annually. The distillery was founded by the Beam family in 1795: corn farmers exploited the excess production through distillation. Jim Beam is therefore one of the first American distilleries to produce Bourbon Whiskey, even if for a long time it remained a product sold only locally. With the success that however did not delay, in the mid-19th century the distillery was equipped with a column still to speed up production. When Jim Beam took over the family distillery in 1894, it was already enjoying enormous popularity, but soon the business had to stop due to prohibition. In 1933 when distillation became legal again, Jim Beam built a new distillery in record time.
The production is based on yeasts that have been handed down since 1933, spring water and double distillation; finally, Jim Beam Bourbons are always subjected to very long aging in new toasted or charred American oak barrels.
