Since 1894 the Fillioux family has been involved in distilling and aging Cognac on the La Pouyade estate in the heart of Grande Champagne. Theirs are limited productions, made with artisanal care and are characterized by long aging. Jean Fillioux’s Cognacs stand out for their complexity, for the purity of aromas and well-balanced and never aggressive taste.
Grande Champagne is one of the sub-areas in which the Cognac production area is classified; in particular, the 25 hectares of vineyards of the La Pouyade estate are located on top of a hill in the heart of the region. This sub-area was classified "premier cru" of Cognac in 1909. The calcareous soils and excellent southern exposure allow for perfect ripening of the Ugni Blanc grapes, the variety with which the wines to be distilled for the production of Cognac are obtained. The vineyards are managed with the principles of environmental sustainability.
