For lovers of French spirits Hennessy is an important name. In fact it has become the leading producer of Cognac and is part of the Moet-Hennessy Louis Vuitton group.
But Hennessy has an ancient history, it was founded in the 18th century by an Irish immigrant, Richard Hennessy who was already exporting it to the United States at the end of the century. He was among the first to ship Cognac in bottles rather than barrels; as a result, his label quickly became popular.
During the 19th century, Hennessy Cognacs were sold on all continents. In 1870 he created Cognac XO, which later became very popular and in 1947 he created the carafe-shaped bottle.
New labels of great Cognacs were created in the second half of the 1900s such as Cognac Hennessy Paradis, with a harmonious and voluptuous character, Cognac Richard Hennessy, a refined blend for true enthusiasts and the most prestigious of all: Cognac Hennesy Paradis Imperial.
