Fattoria del Cerro with 181 hectares of vineyards is an important winery in Montepulciano, a land where one of the oldest Tuscan wines is produced: the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
Montepulciano is a splendid medieval town perched on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful natural park of Val d’Orcia. The grape variety of these lands is the so called Prugnolo gentile, which is nothing more than a clone of Sangiovese. In the Montepulciano area, where the soils have an important sandy component, Sangiovese produces wines with fine and elegant flavors and a smooth taste.
Fattoria del Cerro is managed in a modern way and, being able to count on many vineyards with different exposures and altitudes, it guarantees qualitaty consistency to its production year after year. The winery belongs to the insurance company Unipol, that with the name “Tenute del Cerro” controls several wineries: Tenuta del Cerro in Montepulciano, La Poderina in Montalcino, Monterufoli in Pisa province and Colpetrone in the region Umbria.
