D'Araprì is a very original project born from a passion shared by three friends. Indeed, there are two passions: music and wine. Girolamo D'Amico, Louis Rapini and Ulrico Priore are three friends with a passion for Jazz, someone is a professional musician, someone does it as a hobby. All three also share a passion for wine and in particular for sparkling wines. In 1979 they decided to try their hand at producing traditional method sparkling wines in their native land, the Daunia in Puglia.
They invent the name "D’ARAPRÌ" by combining the first two letters of their surnames and founded the winery in the historic center of San Severo. Initially they decide to produce sparkling wines with local grape varieties: Bombino bianco and Montepulciano; today in reality they also grow other local and international vines.
They started quietly, but in the last 20 years they have collected many awards and prizes, becoming one of the most interesting sparkling wine houses in southern Italy. A new generation is supporting them in their activities.
To have optimal conditions for the aging of sparkling wines, they created 1,300 square meters of underground tunnels under the city of San Severo, as if we were in Reims. They manage 22 hectares of vineyards and produce 105,000 bottles a year.
