Château Simon

Château Simon, an icon in the New Aquitaine wine world, is a winery with a rich history rooted in the Barsac area. Owned by the Dufour family for many generations, the winery has its roots in the cultivation of vines dating back to at least 1660, as documented by ancient records that attest to the harvesting of grapes in the various plots of land in the area.

The Dufour family, custodians of a savoir faire passed down from generation to generation, has consolidated the success of Château Simon over the centuries. Now in its third generation, the family continues to combine historic traditions with the most modern agricultural and oenological techniques, producing wines of the highest quality appreciated both in France and the rest of the world.

Over the years, the winery has expanded to cover about forty hectares, maintaining an approach that combines winemaking traditions with modern innovations. Located in a region with a warm and temperate climate, ideal for growing vineyards, Château Simon avoids the use of chemical fertilizers, preferring sustainable and environmentally friendly farming methods.

The winery focuses on the cultivation of native grape varieties such as Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. These varieties are subjected to the action of noble rot, produced by the fungus Botrytis cinerea, which contributes to the drying process of the berries, essential for the production of the area's characteristic sweet wines.

Château Simon's flagship wine is the Barsac "Grand Vin de Sauternes," a sweet mildewed white that embodies the winery's identity and passion.
