Castello Bonomi
The Castello Bonomi estate of the Paladin family takes its name from the Bonomi Castle, an Art Nouveau building located on the slopes of Monte Orfano that delimits the Franciacorta area to the south, separating it from the Po Valley. The winery was founded in 1985, when Franciacorta wines began to take flight towards success. The vineyards of Castello Bonomi on Monte Orfano stand out from the rest of the Franciacorta area for a greater presence of limestone and chalk, due to their sedimentary geological origin. They are very deep soils that give complexity and character to the wines. Furthermore, within the estate there are different territorial units, true microzones, which are exploited to have a wide range of base wines and therefore a great freedom to create different wines. Chardonnay and partly Pinot Noir are grown in these vineyards and the winery has made a strong point of the Pinot Noir with the blanc de noirs Lucrezia Etichetta Nera, taking advantage of the fact that the Monte Orfano area is the richest in limestone of all Franciacorta. With international grape varieties such as Cabernet and Merlot Castello Bonomi produces still wines in the Curtefranca appellation. In total, Castello Bonomi has 24 hectares of vineyards, mostly terraced and exposed between south-east and south-west in the municipality of Coccaglio. The management is certified organic and production settles at 180,000 bottles a year, of high quality and with a potential for aging.
