Casa Caterina is the Del Bono family winery in Monticelli Brusati in the renowned Franciacorta area. Casa Caterina produces traditional method sparkling wines such as Franciacorta, but outside the DOCG, as it avoids labels and approvals. From this point of view, it is a rebellious winery, which does not pursue fashions, but only quality and its own uniqueness. That of the Del Bono family is a philosophical rather than a commercial choice, in the name of the freedom to make the wines they like. The two Del Bono brothers run the company with great severity, work with an organic approach, and have adopted biodynamic practices.
The brand Casa Caterina is much loved by connoisseurs and enthusiasts. Casa Caterina wines are niche products, not reviewed by the guides and little disclosed. The inspiration is that of Champagne's Récoltant Manipulant: small independent producers who work in a family way, processing only the grapes from their own vineyards. Casa Caterina owns a few hectares of vineyards and produces a limited number of bottles. They are traditional method sparkling wines, not labeld as Franciacorta DOCG, but they best express the territorial character of Franciacorta. Casa Caterina sparkling wines are exclusive products, often subjected to long aging on the lees.
