Canard-Duchêne

The Canard-Duchêne maison located in the Montagne de Reims was founded in 1868 by the meeting of a cooper, Victor Canard, and a winegrower, Léonie Duchêne. At the end of the century their wines were already known and appreciated at the court of Tsar Nicholas II.
The Canard-Duchêne Champagnes have always been an authentic expression of the Montagne de Reims territory, that is, based on the structure and vinosity given by the Pinot Noir from the vineyards in the village of Ludes.
The maison has the great advantage of having 6 km of tunnels dug underground in Ludes. Since 2003 the maison has belonged to the Thienot group. In 2008 it completely renovated the base wine fermentation cellar; alcoholic fermentation takes place in large temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
The current cellar master focuses heavily on freshness and intensity in perpetuating the style of the Canard-Duchêne maison.
