It is an Irish brand famous for producing a liqueur made with Irish Whiskey and Cream of Milk. The product was born in the 1970s within the distribution company Gilbeys of Ireland. Just launched in 1974 it was successful in the North American and Australian markets; only later did it also conquer Europe. The name Baileys was chosen because it had a more English sound, in fact it was the name of a restaurant in London.
