Autréau is an independent producer of Champagne conducted on a family level between the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte de Blancs, precisely in Champillon near Épernay, one of the main centers of Champagne.
The business began in the 1950s with only 3 hectares of vineyards. Today, with the third generation, Autréau owns 35 hectares of vineyards classified as both Premier Cru and Grand Cru and produces about 350,000 bottles a year. The Premier Cru vineyards are located in the villages of Champillon, Dizy and Hautvillers, while the Grand Cru vineyards are located in Chouilly and Aÿ; all are conducted with care and have received high environmental value certification.
The generation in charge is in fact sensitive to the issue of climate change and has adapted the systems of cultivation of the vineyards. Beyond this, the production philosophy has not changed and Autréau produces Champagne with a classic, traditional style.
The base wines are fermented in steel and malolactic fermentation is normally carried out. Autréau cuvées have received medals several times in the Mundus Vini competition.
