Le Difese 2023

Le Difese is not only Tenuta San Guido's entry wine, but it is also the only one that contains a percentage of a Tuscan grape in its blend. If in Sassicaia Cabernet sauvignon is flanked by Cabernet franc and in Guidalberto by Merlot, in Le Difese red wine Cabernet sauvignon is flanked by Sangiovese. The 30% share of Sangiovese mitigates the power of Cabernet Sauvignon, making the wine gentle and affable. It has a leaner body, but it is not less intense and tasty, indeed it is the bottle that finishes first at meals! Le Difese fully represents the style of Bolgheri and of a winery that has made this appellation successful.

The grapes ferment in steel vats with temperature control and a maceration of about 12 days. The wine is then transferred to French barriques where it ages for at least 8 months before being bottled.
